Reasons Why Plastic should be banned?
Recent years have seen
a debate over whether or not plastic use should be outlawed to study the causes
and effects of plastic. We will examine the characteristics of
plastic, the harm it causes to the environment, and the growing argument over
whether plastic should be outlawed.
An
introduction:
Plastic pollution,
especially plastic bag pollution, is substantial. The use of plastic bags must
be outlawed to reduce pollution. We use plastic bags since they are practical
when we go to buy our goods. Due to the harmful impacts of their use, many
places throughout the world have started to outright ban the use of plastic
bags, while others have enacted limited legislation that restricts their use.
Harmful
effects of plastic bags:
1.
Plastic bags harm both our land and our water:
Since plastic bags are
often light, they can travel over great distances by wind or water. These
plastic bags are blown by the wind, trashing the surrounding region. These
wastes become trapped between plants, moving to the oceans of
the planet by floating in the water and building walls. Plastic garbage bags
produce chemicals that get into the soil and deplete its fertility.
2. Contribute to climate change:
Being constructed of non-renewable
elements, Plastic is non-biodegradable and can withstand any climate. When it
is littered, plastic travels by wind and water to reach ocean bodies and gets stuck
on land and trees. This affects these surroundings by getting stranded there.
3.
It takes a lot of energy to make these bags:
The energy needed to
drive a car for 1 kilometer is utilized to produce 9 plastic bags, which is an
illogical ratio given that the plastic bag is only used for 11 minutes of
material transportation before being thrown away.
4.
Threat to wildlife:
Wildlife is at risk
because they occasionally carelessly ingest plastic that is scattered near
their food. As their digestive systems become entangled in plastic and they
perish, many aquatic species, including turtles, endure severe suffering.
5.
Recycling plastic bags can be challenging:
Recycling plastic bags might be very difficult. Plastic bags cannot be recycled
at recycling facilities, hence they cannot be accepted. As a result, about 5%
of plastic bags are recycled.
6.
Decline of the Environment:
Due to their negative
impact, they are damaging the environment. Today, land pollution is primarily
caused by plastic bags. A significant contributor to water contamination is the
use of plastic bags.
Unaware ingesting
plastic particles along with their food are animals and aquatic life. According
to research, discarded plastic bags are a major cause of untimely animal
deaths.
8.
Human illness's root causes:
Toxic substances are
released during the manufacture of plastic bags. The main reason for severe diseases is due to these plastics. One of the main causes of the many diseases
that are quickly spreading among people is the contaminated environment.
9.
Obstructed sewage:
The biggest cause of
blocked drains and sewers, particularly during rainy seasons, is waste plastic
bags. This might cause a situation of flood and interfere with people's daily
lives.
10. Plastic bags assist in keeping
our streets tidy:
Along our highways,
plastic bags are an eyesore and unpleasant litter. They do it in streets,
landfills, and bodies of water. These trash-filled streets make them appear
unsightly and detract from their aesthetic appeal.
Ø Conclusion
Even though plastic poses a serious threat to all of us, this issue is frequently disregarded and
underappreciated. This is due to the fact that people frequently utilize small,
portable bags without considering their long-term effects. However,
in order to protect our ecology and the globe, everyone must immediately and fully
stop using plastic bags.
